Private Pilots Training

A private pilot certificate is for those who want to fly as a hobby or those planning to purchase their own helicopter. It is also the first step toward obtaining a commercial pilot certificate. All training is conducted under FAR part 61.

Some FAA Requirements
  • Be at least 17 years old (may start training prior to 17th birthday).
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Pass the FAA knowledge test (may be done prior to or during flight training).
  • Hold a current FAA 3rd class medical certificate.
  • 20 hours of dual flight instruction.
  • 10 hours of solo flight time.
  • 10 hours of solo or dual instruction.

The FAA requires a minimum of forty hours of flight time, however the average student typically takes an additional 10-20 hours to achieve the level of skill required to pass the FAA practical test.



Commercial Pilots Training

A commercial pilot certificate is required before a pilot may fly for hire.

FAA Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old (may start training prior to 17th birthday).
  • Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Pass the FAA knowledge test (many be done prior to or during flight training).
  • Hold a current FAA 2nd class medical certificate.
  • Hold at least a private pilot certificate issued under FAR 61.
  • 150 hours of flight time (50 of which must be in helicopters).
  • 20 hours of dual flight instruction.
  • 35 hours acting as pilot in command to include 10 hours solo.
  • 10 hours solo cross country.
  • 5 hours solo night.



Training Aircraft

We are a Robinson dealer, and we conduct all of our flight training in a new Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter.
